I have used talc powder as a dry shampoo before but it does turn you grey as I have dark hair. To but dry shampoo for dark hair is very expensive. I think this homemade one is a great idea. I also would have never thought about applying it with a makeup brush!

This is so clever! I have dark hair so I always spend a few extra moments checking to make sure my dry shampoo isn't showing when I use it. With this powder, though, I won't have to worry about those white streaks anymore. Plus, I think using a makeup brush to apply is probably a better way to distribute the dry shampoo, anyway.
