7 Tips for Growing Your Etsy Shop

By: Maggie Kmeicek for CheapThriftyLiving

If you’re thinking about starting an Etsy shop, or if you’ve already got one running, then your goal is always to have the best Etsy shop possible. If you’re a long-time Etsy shop owner, then you know there’s always room for you shop to grow.

Whether it’s Etsy selling tips, or how to set up an Etsy shop, these tips are meant to help grow your business. You can follow this advice “to a T” or you can adapt these helpful tips to fit your shop’s needs.

1. Create a social media platform for your business.

If you haven’t done so already, ensure that you’ve created a social media platform for your business. Whether it consists of the use of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or all three, you should make your Etsy shop visible. There are many benefits to using social media such as the ability to reach new audiences or keeping your followers updated on new product — it pays off to create a social media interaction with your customers.

2. Market your brand.

As stated above, a social media platform is an easy way to market your brand — for free! The goal of marketing your brand should be to reach your niche audience or to attract a new audience for your products. You can also choose to make use of paid marketing in order to drive more traffic to your Etsy shop. Marketing possibilities are endless, so don’t be afraid to explore!

3. Branch out into new markets.

If you’ve been successful with your target audience, and you’re looking to grow your business, then try branching out to new markets. You can do this with certain marketing strategies or even by creating a new product line. These new products can be based off your already successful line, but the goal is to appeal to a new target market’s demands and needs. Make sure to do your research on other markets if you wish to expand your product line.

4. Start a monthly newsletter.

Starting a newsletter can help your small business grow because it drives sales. Not only is it a great medium to get the word out about new products, but it’s also an opportunity to remind your customers of best-sellers. A newsletter reminds your customers that you’re still there and you’re ready to sell!

5. Get third-party recognition.

Third-party sites are a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of your brand and to drive sales to your Etsy shop. You can work with third-party sites for giveaways of reviews of your products. You can even get a blogger or a site to feature your shop in order to encourage more traffic.

Using Instagram, for example, is a great way to grow your Etsy. Check out our guide to Using Instagram to Grow Your Etsy!

6. Pitch your products.

Attend trade shows and make relationships with retailers. You’ll need to know the wholesale prices for your products in order to pitch to other companies. This is a way to grow your product line and generate more sales for your small business aside from Etsy buyers.

7. Hire an extra set of hands.

This may be the most visible form of expanding your business! If your sales are consistent, you’re making a good profit, and the work is piling up, then hiring either a part-time or full-time employee can benefit you. What are you most efficient at? Make sure there is a clear delegation of tasks and you’re performing the tasks that you are most efficient at. Organization and efficiency will help your business run smooth and continue to grow.
